This passage has always been the challenge to me. As you rightly put it, the ultimate litmus test. From the perspective that God is love, and he’s being described here, so made in his image, those should be our attributes. Giving enough love to everyone and having enough for our kids, touched me the most. Though it was harsh describing kids as brain dead, could not understand the analogy, but the point was clear.
