Carnival as Holy Disturbance, Jay Beck and Tevyn East
Tevyn is an artist and the Director of Carnival de Resistance, a traveling carnival, village and school that focuses on ecological justice and radical theology. Her husband, Jay, collaborates as percussionist, vocalist, drum-maker, educator, and core organizer. Together, they explore the historical development of Carnival traditions as a beautiful and mixed bag of cultural expressions that disrupt the dominant order, and act as an artistic and faith-rooted response to our ecological and cultural crises.
